Product information
The Varjo XR-3 is the second generation of the original Varjo XR-1. The XR-3 has been developed for building photorealistic mixed reality experiences with a full field of view in human-eye resolution.
Advantages
First, the Varjo XR-3 is capable of recreating mixed reality in human-eye resolution. The XR-3 provides the user with near human-eye vision, thanks to 4 built-in displays working simultaneously, allowing users to see even the tiniest of details. In comparison to the XR-1 which was already the best in its category, the display has improved dramatically in the XR-3. The XR-3 display provides users 70 pixels per degree compared to the XR-1’s 60 pixels per degree.
Second, the XR-3 has two built-in external cameras and an integrated infrared sensor system. This is the main difference between the Varjo VR-3 and XR-3. This difference makes the XR-3 the only headset able to recreate true to life imagery in mixed reality. The headset uses video pass-through technology instead of optical see-through systems found in the Hololens 2. This allows colors to be perfectly rendered by the headset. The built-in cameras on the outside of the headset give the user a much larger field of view compared to optical see-through devices. The XR-3 headset will collect real-time data about the environment, allowing shadows and reflections to be added to virtual objects in real time.
Third, the XR-3 has the ability to track and analyze eye movement across both real and virtual environments with the highest accuracy. This can be of great value during research, development of products and high pressure training and simulations, to better understand human behavior.
Fourth, the XR-3 has a 115 degree field of view, this puts it on the higher end compared to the HP Reverb G2 and HoloLens 2. It is also 32 degrees more than the XR-1. The larger field of view and human eye resolution of the XR-3, make it the most immersive and natural experience of any headset currently available.
Fifth, the XR-3 now supports inside out tracking, meaning the headset no longer needs Steam VR Base Stations to be used. The headset is able to do this with the two built in external cameras. This makes the XR-3 easier to deploy than the original XR-1.
Finally, the XR-3 is one of the only headsets on the market that has integrated hand tracking. The Varjo XR-3 uses Ultraleap Gemini (v5). Ultraleap technology means users can engage with the digital world naturally. This makes the Varjo one of the only headsets in its category that has no need for controllers to function correctly. This means the Varjo XR-3 is able to provide one of the most immersive and natural mixed reality experiences possible
