The maximum play area with the SteamVR base stations 2.0 is 10 x 10 meters. It is recommended to use 2 sensors then. This makes the tracking very accurate and the sensors ‘see’ the entire space.
Why does the light keep flashing on the base unit?
A blue light means that the base station is not stable. Be careful with vibrations and oscillations. A red light means there is an error. No light means that the base station is not receiving power.
How does energy management work?
When this feature is OFF, your base stations remain on and transmit when connected. When this feature is ON, your base stations go into standby mode when SteamVR is not in use. They will “wake up” again when SteamVR starts.
How many base stations do I need?
For most play spaces, we recommend two base stations. If the space is larger than 5 by 5 feet, you can add additional base stations for better tracking and greater accuracy.
How do I resolve a failure between base stations?
If there is interference with the base stations then it is important that the channels are changed or aligned with the other base stations. Devices > Base station settings > Configure base station channels
Tracking is a problem. How do I fix it?
The problem can be fixed by redoing the room setup. In doing so, try to remove as much reflective material from the room as possible.
How do I prevent the base stations from turning on and off?
Restart SteamVR. If this does not solve the problem, restart the computer.
