Finnish Varjo™ – the leader in powerful XR / VR hardware and software, recently released their new Varjo Aero VR headset for the prosumer and wider enterprise VR. But what are the differences between the generational leap of Aero and the “resolution revolution” of VR-3?

Designed With Varjo’s Partners

“Varjo Aero makes professional-grade VR and true-to-life visual quality more accessible than ever.”
          – Unity Forma, Varjo partner

The Varjo VR-3 headset is designed for powerful development usage: requiring high-performing hardware equipment. While the Aero is aimed at scalable deployments, either for wide employee onboarding and training, prototype tests, or as audience magnets during conferences.

Varjo has collaborated with partners across the globe and designed a more accessible Aero VR headset to complete the opportunities that VR has to offer.

VR Expert Varjo Aero

“Varjo Aero is the next level of VR. With edge-to-edge clarity, true-to-life fidelity, and total comfort, training in VR has never felt so close to the real experience.”
          – Fabi Riesen, CEO of VRM Switzerland

The Aero is completing the reality portfolio of Varjo, moving a step closer to the vision of immersive virtual teleportation through their Varjo Reality Cloud™ platform. The aim of this reality cloud is “to harness the infinite computing power of the cloud to enable both capturing and sharing of the entire physical reality around us”.

In short, partners have praised the Aero for its high-fidelity that does not compromise on scalability. And a wide array of enterprises has used the VR-3 in industry-leading R&D and high-performance training and simulation.

“The new Varjo Aero headset turbocharges the high-quality graphics and authentic immersion of Microsoft Flight Simulator.”
          – Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator at Microsoft

Excellence in Display Technology

On the screen is where everything comes to life – where excellence is required. The VR-3 delivers photo-realistic immersion through their Full Frame Bionic display technology resembling that of our human-eye resolution.

Whereas the Aero increases accessibility with a more affordable yet industry-leading visual fidelity with their Biconvex non-Fresnel lens technology, letting in increased light, resulting in higher contrasts and edge-to-edge clarity. All in all, increasing the resolution of the Aero across the 114-degrees FOV with a lightweight form factor for long-term comfort.

Additionally, Varjo has set eye-tracking front-and-center with their 200hz tracking capability. Catching even the slightest nuances and ticks in the biometrics, making training sessions and product tests efficient and in-depth.

Varjo even took environmental tracking to the next level using LiDAR and cameras to achieve accurate representation of up to 5 meters – 16 feet – around the wearer. For example, develop a photo-realistic flight deck with the VR-3 and broadly deploy it with the Aero to train prospective pilots.

For Every Possible Use

Varjo has designed its portfolio of reality devices to complete a holistic workflow from its partner’s insights to enable enterprises to achieve excellence.

Varjo VR-3 and XR-3 are high-end headsets made to represent reality with unparalleled fidelity. They enable demanding simulation and training purposes such as pilot training requiring a fast refresh rate as nearby planes on the horizon must be clear.

The superior tracking of both hands and environment makes them ideal for medical training, such as surgery exams and decentralized medical procedures.

Lastly, workflow optimization and product development heights can be achieved with the combined use of all of Varjo’s reality devices. For example, with Varjo Lab Tools™, Japanese car-concept developer Phario, transformed a capital-intensive practice to be more cost-effective and even increased their level of innovation through immersion.

The laptop-friendly and portable Aero enters the virtual picture within marketing and sales use-cases. The broad-scale deployment enables showroom experiences, audience magnets during conferences and events, and revolutionary presentation of large-scale product models such as architectural designs. Additionally, the prosumer has never experienced decentralized education and content consumption better than the Aero.
