The client

CSi palletising was founded back in 1964 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The company supplies fully integrated material handling and palletising systems for the FMCG/CPG industry and has installations all over the world. 

As a turnkey supplier, CSi offers its customers a complete package, from consulting and design to assembly, delivery, installation and commissioning, as well as lifecycle services.

The challenge

The biggest challenge CSi wanted to address is reducing the downtime of critical installations of the company’s customers. However, due to its global client portfolio, it was also essential to reduce the need for travel to sites.

In times of uncertainty and limited travel options, CSi wanted to continue to support its customers in the best possible way, and therefore looked for a suitable solution. They became aware of augmented reality technology and contacted VR Expert for advice on how to use it.

The solution

After extensive consultation by VR Expert, CSi decided to use the RealWear HMT-1, a smart glass perfectly suited for remote support applications. It can be operated hands-free via voice control and, thanks to its robustness, meets all requirements for working in industrial environments. With noise cancellation and a flashlight, the device is also suitable for use in noisy or dark environments.

Together with the RealWear HMT-1, CSi and VR Expert jointly created a kit consisting of smart glass, accessories and PPE (personal protective equipment). With the help of the kit, workers have all the necessary items on site and are immediately able to use the solution.

By using the RealWear HMT-1 equipment, CSi is capable of providing on-site support to customers with just a few clicks, while saving the high costs that would otherwise be incurred due to specialist travel time. This new approach to work not only reduces downtime, but also improves the knowledge and skills of customers.
