One area of focus for the company is to reduce the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related to falls in seniors. Very often, when a senior falls, they are afraid of falling again, so they experience difficulty walking. This can lead to a loss of independence, social isolation, and placement in a healthcare facility. Teleport IN’s therapeutic VR protocol, EMOCHUTE, was designed by their doctor of psychology and utilizes various cognitive behavioral therapies such as meditation, breathing, cardiac coherence, and emotional freedom technique.

The Challenge
The challenge for Teleport IN was to bring virtual reality into senior care homes in a way that felt natural and stress-free for both the residents and the caregivers.Teleport IN needed a full VR solution, including hardware and software, that would be as simple as possible for people with little or no technical background. They were looking for a way for seniors to enjoy the VR experiences without worrying about buttons or settings, and for caregivers to easily set up, move, and monitor the sessions.
The solution
To address these needs, Teleport IN partnered with VR Expert to put together a complete, user-friendly solution that would work smoothly in senior care homes. While Teleport IN focused on developing the content and application, VR Expert provided the expertise to design the right hardware setup and ensure everything came as a ready-to-use package that matches best the needs of Teleport IN.
On the hardware side, VR Expert helped Teleport IN choose the Pico G2 4K Enterprise headset, known for having a good memory capacity, being simple to use and easy to develop applications on, as well as reliable, and offering excellent value for its performance. Together, Teleport IN and VR Expert designed complete VR packages. Each kit also contains a user manual and a therapeutic protocol guide, making it simple for healthcare staff to set up and run sessions without any technical hassle.
On the software side, Teleport IN created a simple VR content solution that could be used by technology novices and allow caregivers to easily move the equipment and monitor their patient’s user experience. Caregivers can use it to control the VR headset remotely and even watch, in real time, what the senior is experiencing inside the headset. This way, seniors and residents do not need to perform any technical manipulation and do not worry about handling any buttons or settings, they can simply concentrate on their experience and enjoy the moment.
