The customer

Fugro is a Geo-data specialist who obtains advanced information about the subsurface and structures. This data is used, for example, for the construction of offshore wind farms. The company is active worldwide and has more than 30 ships in operation.

The question

Fugro asked VR Expert to supply AR hardware for a remote support solution. The AR hardware had to function in extreme (weather) conditions in which Fugro works. In addition, it had to meet strict safety regulations and be usable with safety equipment. The last requirement was that employees must have their hands free to use tools. 

The solution

We advised Fugro the RealWear HMT-1. This AR headset is made for the industry; protected against drops and water and dust proof. In addition, the RealWear HMT-1 is easy to combine with safety equipment such as helmets and glasses. In addition, the HMT-1 works voice control so employees always have their hands free to use tools and solve problems. 

We have supplied Fugro with more than 35 RealWear HMT-1 headsets that have been sent around the world in a special kit. In addition to the headset, this kit contains various accessories such as a safety helmet and protective headphones. We also provide support and maintenance to Fugro and we contribute to keeping the solution operational.
