The RealWear HMT-1Z1 is the only AR headset with an Atex zone 1 certification making it ideally suited for inspections, maintenance and repairs in potentially explosive areas.
Advantages of the RealWear HMT-1Z1
The RealWear HMT-1Z1 Atex zone 1 certification means that the headsets can be used in spaces where the chances of an explosive gas mixture are relatively high (Between 0.1 – 10% chance under normal operations).
Besides being Atex certified the HMT-1Z1 also has an IP66 rating, making it both water and dust resistant. It can also withstand falls of up to 2 meters, making it the most robust smart glass AR device on the market right now.
The HMT-1Z1 has one of the most advanced voice recognition systems on the market. The voice recognition even works with noise levels up to and including 95 dB, ideal for use in loud industrial environments.
Finally, the HMT-1Z1 runs on an android operating system meaning that it feels very similar to most Android tablets as well as the fact that it is possible to upload your own APK’s.

No, control by means of a controller is not possible. However, a mobile connection is possible, which makes controlling the HMT-1Z1 easier.
It is possible to cast to an external display/ monitor if the RealWear.explorer app is installed. Please note that the RealWear HMT-1 and the laptop are on the same WiFi connection.
The RealWear HMT-1Z1 is equipped with a GPS and also has a Gyroscope / Digital compass. This can be combined with different technologies for internal locations.

Unfortunately this is not possible. The RealWear HMT-1Z1 has no option to connect a 4G modem
It is possible to connect earphones to the RealWear HMT-1Z1. If the ears of RealWear are used themselves, the device continues to meet the Atex requirements. If other earphones are used, the device basically no longer meets the Atex requirements unless the earphones are also Atex certified.
Unfortunately this is not possible. The RealWear HMT-1Z1 has no option to replace the battery.
In contrast to the RealWear HMT-1, the RealWear HMT-1Z1 is Atex certified. This means that the device is suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The devices are otherwise the same in functionalities, only a number of accessories cannot be used for the RealWear HMT-1Z1.
